Who am I?
I'm Alycia Potter a creative located in the South East of England. I’m always looking for the next opportunity in the visual industry to push myself and put my skills to the test. I always have loved applying my creativity in new ways, and am constantly looking for new sources of inspiration and keeping on top of new ideas. I’m a curious and diligent filmmaker, looking to perfect my technical abilities and develop my own unique style. Films and TV have the power to project us to unworldly places, this is something that has attracted me to pursue a career in this industry. Through my years of studying and practising film, I have had the chance to work with and on several projects. I started out working by myself creating family holiday videos, then I moved to silly short films and then onto more narrative based films.
Recently starting my own outreach project for new members in the industry, The Potter Project was created to give opportunity to those who were interested in film and have never been given the chance to have experience or are looking for a career change. You can see our current Project and adventures to pitching at Pinewood, supportive words from BAFTA and interviews with Amanda Holden HERE on our instagram. I have been delighted to be able to win and submit to many festivals around the globe reaching from Ireland, Canada and even Africa. These have allowed me to develop and improve my skillset and introduced me to many industry professions and amazing fellow film makers near and far. I am now the proud holder of the BFI Future Film Festival first category winner for the micro portrait short award, which got my work screen at the awards ceremony at Southbank. I’m currently training as a Duty Technician, mainly working with cinema projection, but also working as a casual technician working around my creative adventures.
